Annette Smith-Knight, one of the top statistical players in Texas Women’s Basketball history, was inducted into the 2013 class of  the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday, June 8.

Smith-Knight still reigns as the top scorer in program history with 2,523 points (19.3 points per game), and at one point scored double figures in 33 straight games. She ranks sixth in rebounding with 966 for her career over 131 games.

She played for the Longhorns from 1981-1984 when she tore her ACL during her junior season and took 1984-1985 off before returning to the team.  

Before her injury she was one of Texas’ best, averaging 24.9 points per game in 1983-1984 and 22.3 points per game in 1982-1983, winning SWC Player of the Year both seasons. She also paced Texas in scoring as a freshman in 1981-1982 with 19.3 points per game.  She was named an All-American in 1983-1984 by Kodak and USBWA.

Despite not playing at her pre-injury level, she averaged 9.1 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per game in 1985-1986 to help Texas become the first team in NCAA Women’s  Basketball history to complete a perfect season (34-0) . She is the fourth player from the 1985-1986 team to be inducted and the fifth member of the team overall.
