The Longhorns travelled to Oklahoma City this weekend to participate in the Head of the Oklahoma, where they failed to place near the top.
The competition, held on the Oklahoma River, lasted all day.
In the eight-woman competition, Texas finished fifth and 11th in a field of 20. Texas’ top boat finished 42 seconds behind the top placing Clemson boat, which was in the lead all day. Big 12 rival Oklahoma had two boats ahead of them, while Kansas finished in second place.
The four-woman boats didn’t fare as well, crossing the finish line at 13th and 14th out of 34, about half a minute off the pace once again set by Clemson.
It was the first official race for the rowing team this year. The team next travels to Massachusetts on Oct. 20.
