The Texas women’s cross country team hit a high point this weekend, as senior Marielle Hall claimed the Longhorns’ first ever individual title at the Big 12 Cross Country Championships on Saturday.
Hall, coming off a hot streak in the past few meets, blazed the competition, finishing 10 seconds before anyone else in the race at 19:38.
“I’m super excited,” Hall said in a statement. “Texas is all about history and tradition and upholding that, so just to be able to contribute to that is such an honor.”
Hall was followed by seniors Megan Seibert and Brittany Marches, who finished 12th and 19th respectively.
The team finished fourth overall, behind the thee-year-straight champion Iowa State, second place West Virginia and third place Oklahoma State.
The team’s championship journey continues Nov. 15, when the teams return to Waco for the NCAA South Central Regional.
