Members of the University Leadership Initiate were joined Wednesday by hundreds of University students and actress America Ferrera in front of the Tower in a counter protest against the UT chapter of the Young Conservatives of Texas.
The counter-protesters rallied in of support undocumented students and comprehensive immigration reform, including HR15.
The Young Conservatives of Texas had originally planned to host an event Wednesday titled, “Catch an Illegal Immigrant.” The group cancelled the event after University-wide backlash.
“I am here because I am ready for common sense immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented who are our family members, friends, neighbors, students and fellow churchgoers,” Ferrera said.
