A student was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center after experiencing a medical issue Monday morning around 9:35 a.m, according to University spokeswoman Cindy Posey.
Multiple vehicles from Emergency Medical Services, the Austin Fire Department and UTPD arrived on the scene at 9:44. The student suffered non-life-threatening symptoms related to an illness, according to Mike Benavides, Travis County Emergency Medical Services spokesman.
Benavides said EMS assessed the student’s condition and provided care on the scene before transporting the student to the hospital. Benavides said the student’s illness was not severe, and EMS provided the basic care they provide to all patients.
Posey declined to provide information on what kind of care was provided, citing the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
