The Texas track and field program returns to Albuquerque, N.M., this weekend for the New Mexico Collegiate Classic. With only one more meet standing between the Longhorns and the Big 12 Indoor Championships, the team is now entering the most important part of its schedule.
Competition will be strong on both the men’s and women’s sides, with Arkansas’ top-ranked men and sixth-ranked women both attending the meet along with the 19th overall Washington women.
The second-ranked Texas women and the number 18 men will be tested with top competition, and how they fair in this meet will be a good indicator toward their final positioning in the standings come postseason meets.
With National Signing Day unfolding last Wednesday, coach Mario Sategna announced the addition of 21 recruits who will join the team next fall. The 10 men include several strong distance runners, while the 11 women recruits add talent at several events.
