Newly hired athletic director Steve Patterson is quickly delivering on his promise to develop the international Longhorn brand.
The Texas athletic program announced on Saturday the Longhorn basketball team will travel to play the first ever NCAA regular season game in China in 2015. Texas will take on the Washington Huskies on Nov. 14.
“We are excited to be opening the 2015-2016 season against the Washington Huskies in China,” Patterson said in a statement. “This will be a great educational experience for our student-athletes and another opportunity to strengthen the university’s brand in the world’s most populous country.”
The game is tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m. in Beijing on Nov. 14, 2015, which would be 9 p.m. in Austin on Nov. 13, 2015. It will be broadcast on ESPN.
