Texas trails Baylor 7-0 at halftime

3-1-2

After a first half plagued by missed opportunities on offense and a costly miscue on special teams, the Longhorns trail Baylor 7-0 at halftime.

On its final drive of the second quarter, Texas went 98 yards on 14 plays but failed to score after sophomore quarterback Tyrone Swoopes lost a fumble at the 1-yard line.

Texas was unable to capitalize on offense throughout the first two quarters, failing to score despite racking up 111 rushing yards in the half and averaging five yards per carry. Swoopes went 9-of-17 for 79 yards with an interception.

The Longhorns' defense turned in its most impressive half of the season, limiting Baylor, the nation’s highest scoring team, to just 129 yards of total offense and zero offensive points. Senior quarterback Bryce Petty, a Heisman hopeful, completed 4-of-13 pass attempts for 39 yards in the half.

Baylor’s lone score came in the first quarter, when Texas junior kicker Nick Rose’s 52-yard field goal attempt was blocked and returned 62-yards for a touchdown by junior safety Terrell Burt.

Texas will receive the kickoff to start the second half.
