Texas athletics approves new master licensee agreement

289c Apparel became the new master licensee for the University of Texas replacing the current deal with Collegiate Licensing Co., Texas athletics announced Thursday.

The University approved a 10-year agreement with the apparel company, which comes under the assistance of Learfield Licensing Partners. Texas athletics said the new deal is similar to other unique undertakings of the Texas Athletics, like the Longhorn Network.

Texas’ deal with Collegiate Licensing Co., which is also between UT-El Paso, was set to end June 30, 2016.

“Learfield Licensing Partners have been a proven top quality for 11 of the 13 UT System institutions that have licensing program,” Texas Men’s Athletic Director Steve Patterson said. “Because of that successful history, UT-Austin and UT-El Paso will also now be working with that group.…This agreement allows the university, Learfield Licensing Partners and 289c to work collaboratively to better leverage our internationally recognized brand.”

Additionally, Texas Athletics footwear and apparel sideline agreement with Nike expires June 2016. The future sideline partner will work with 289c Apparel as the other primary apparel supplier.
