What: Karaoke Underground Midwest Tour Kickoff
Where: Cheer Up Charlies, 900 Red River Rd.
Time: 9 p.m.
More than 900 punk and indie classics comprise the catalog for Karaoke Underground, an alternative karaoke show for Austin’s hipsters. With songs from the Pixies and Joy Division to Modest Mouse and Belle & Sebastian, Karaoke Underground offers a one-of-a-kind karaoke experience catered toward punk and indie fans. Celebrate the show’s upcoming tour of the midwest during its kick-off party at 9 p.m.

What: NO DANCING: Sad Bastard Music’s 2-YEAR ANNIVERSARY PARTY w/ Will Johnson!
Where: The Volstead, 1500 East Sixth St.
Time: 10 p.m.
The monthly 21+ show, NO DANCING: a night of the saddest possible pop songs that provoke profound introspection instead of booty shakin’, is celebrating its two-year anniversary at 10 p.m. At this event, attendees can expect an array of melancholy tunes, free Kleenex, discounted drinks, a photo booth that bans smiling and absolutely no dancing.

Wednesday, July 15
What: Sound & Cinema presents “Ghostbusters”
Where: Long Center for Performing Arts, 701 West Riverside Drive
Time: 6:00 p.m. food trucks open, 7:30 p.m. band starts, 9 p.m. movie starts
At the bi-weekly summer movie series Sound & Cinema, food trucks will arrive on the Long Center lawn at 6 p.m., and music from Corpus Christi-based soul band LaTasha Lee & The BlackTies will start at 7:30 p.m. Once the sun sets around 9 p.m., the 1984 classic “Ghostbusters” will play for an audience of all ages as they lounge on folding chairs and picnic blankets.

What: Eastside Pop Up Nights
Where: The Volstead, 1500 East Sixth St.
Time: 7 p.m.
Eastside Pop Up, a traveling pop-up shop that allows local artisans to sell their handmade and vintage goods, will host a night of shopping, drinking and dancing at 7 p.m. All attendees must be over the age of 21 and are encouraged to arrive before 9 p.m. to cash in on the happy hour deals.

Friday, July 17
What: Music Under The Star ft. Ben Kweller
Where: Bullock Texas State History Museum, 1800 Congress Ave.
Time: 6 p.m.
Austinites of all ages are invited to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of local music festival Fun Fun Fun Fest with a night of free live music in front of the Bullock Texas State History Museum. The music series features popular Texas-based artists including this Friday’s headliner, singer-songwriter Ben Kweller. Opening for Kweller is East Cameron Folkcore, an Austin-based folk, punk and orchestral group.

What: Spider Hitched
Where: Spider House, 2908 Fruth St.
Time: 7 p.m.
In honor of the recent Supreme Court decision that legalized gay marriage, Spider House will perform marriages and vow renewals on stage followed by a reception for all the newlywed couples. Spider House will provide disc jockeys, wedding favors, flowers, wedding cake and professional photography for each of the couples. What: Zilker Summer Musical, “Hairspray”
Where: Zilker Hillside Theater, 2100 Barton Springs Road

From last Friday through August 15, the 57th Annual Zilker Summer Musical presents “Hairspray,” a high-energy musical comedy. The show will play Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings at approximately 8:30 p.m.
