Who: Bosco
Where: Empire Control Room
When: Thursday 8 p.m.
Cost: $8 – $12
Heavily influenced by ’90s R&B sounds, Atlanta-born artist Bosco recently signed with record label Fool’s Gold and released her debut EP BOY earlier this month. Since the release, the previously underground artist has begun garnering more attention. Songs such as “Gold Ghost” and the album’s title track are hypnotic dance songs, combining heavy beats and trance-inducing vocals.
Who: Tanlines
Where: Red7
When: Friday 9 p.m.
Cost: $12
Brooklyn duo Tanlines released their second album, Highlights, this May. Three years after their debut, the band teased their new songs with a Netflix parody site, showing off their trademark snarky wit. The band is caught somewhere between ’80s new wave and modern indie pop, combining synth beats with bright guitar melodies. Although the band didn’t chart any new territory, songs such as “Slipping Away” and “Pieces” deliver introspective lyrics offset by energetic vibes.
Who: Good Field
Where: Parish
When: Saturday 8 p.m.
Cost: $10
What began as the solo project of Austin-based musician Paul Price, soon morphed into a full album for the indie rock band Good Field. After writing the album, Price recruited a group of musicians to accompany him in recording and performing his songs. The band recently released “Business,” the first single off of their debut album, Future Me. The album spans different genres from ’60s rock to dream pop and will be released later this month.
Who: The Lonely Biscuits
Where: Stubb’s BBQ
When: Sunday 8 p.m.
Cost: $10 – $12
Formerly known as Gravy and the Biscuits, The Lonely Biscuits are an indie band from Tennessee. Since they formed in 2011, the band has been popular among college students, earning mtvU’s “College Artist of The Year” award. The band has released four EPs and is currently recording their debut album. The Lonely Biscuits compliment their indie sound with rap and soul influences that can be heard on songs such as “Chasing Echoes” and “Casual Vibes.”
