Where: The Eastern, 1511 E. Sixth St.
Time: 8 p.m.–12 a.m.
Free popcorn and $3 40s provide the perfect snack during the free event, “Film & A 40,” brought to you by uLOVEi, a local disc jockey and event promoter. Every Monday, two movies within a specific theme will screen at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., respectively, for an audience of tipsy movie fanatics.

What: Rhythm On Stage: Videodance, Michael Jackson’s “Bad”
Where: Long Center for Performing Arts, 701 W. Riverside Drive
Time: 7 p.m.
Rhythm on Stage, a free instructional dance series courtesy of the Long Center of Performing Arts and Ballet Austin’s Butler Center for Dance & Fitness, invites Austinites of all ages to learn to dance on the stage of a grand concert hall. This week, learn the moves from Michael Jackson’s 1987 hit “Bad,” made famous by the Martin Scorsese-directed music video starring Wesley Snipes.

Wednesday, July 22
What: Nintendo Wednesdays: Super Smash Bros.Team Doubles! (N64)
Where: Love Balls Bus, West 29th St. and Fruth St.
Time: 8 p.m.
Every Wednesday, Japanese food truck Love Balls hosts a Nintendo tournament and night of free play in the covered chapel of Spider House. Love Balls asks any potential participants to tweet @loveballsbus to get their name on the bracket then arrive at 8 p.m. Wednesday for free play, and the tournament is at 9 p.m. Snack on Japanese street food from Love Balls, sip on drinks from Spider House and watch or participate in this week’s game: Super Smash Bros.

Thursday, July 23
What: Hot Dog Cookout and Eating Contest
Where: Doc’s Bar and Grill, 1123 S. Congress Ave.
Time: 6 p.m.–8 p.m.
Celebrate National Hot Dog Day right at a cookout and eating contest on South Congress. Enter before 6:30 p.m. and enjoy a plain or specialty dog — $1.50 and $3.50, respectively — while watching the Astros versus Red Sox game or listening to music emceed by local radio station Mix 94.7. In addition, the Corona girls will be handing out complimentary Corona throughout the night.

Friday, July 24
What: In the Treehouse

Time: 7:30 p.m. doors open, 8 p.m. start
Join Austin-based comedian Chris Castles in the treehouse at Austin Java for a free comedy show Friday night. Arrive at 7:30 p.m. to save yourself a seat, since they often run out, and take advantage of the free parking and full bar.

Saturday, July 25
What: Mingled Out: Live Dating Game Show
Where: The Highball, 1120 S. Lamar Blvd.
Time: 7 p.m.
The Highball has gathered several shining bachelors and bachelorettes to participate in a live, interactive dating game show in which audience members are asked personal questions on stage to determine their compatibility with the bachelor or bachelorette and, by the end of the night, a final suitor will be chosen to take them on a date. Following the game show, ’90s cover band ZOODUST will perform.

Forget shopping at the Domain this Sunday, and peruse the one-of-a-kind handmade and vintage items for sale at the “mini flea” hosted by local coffee shop and bar Radio, Coffee & Beer. One of several mini fleas held throughout the summer, Radio, Coffee & Flea promises vendors selling jewelry, glasswork, clothing, art, paper products and textiles.
