In the season opener against Notre Dame, Texas fans can expect to see lots of burnt orange, Hook ‘Em hand signs and possibly a mock turtleneck from Coach Strong — but one thing will be missing: Bevo.
The University’s 2,000 pound sideline icon cannot make the trip to South Bend, Indiana, on Sept. 5 because of a no live-mascot policy in Notre Dame’s stadium.
Earlier today, the official Twitter account for Bevo XIV made the announcement the Longhorn would not be making the trip.
Notre Dame has a no live mascot policy at their stadium – so I won't be making the trip, but I'll be there in spirit. #BeatND #HookEm

Although one special Longhorn can’t make it — Texas’ costumed mascot, Hook ‘Em, will be in the stadium on game day.
The 2015 season kickoff is scheduled for Sept. 5 at 6:30 pm and will be aired on NBC.
