Transport yourself back to the late ’60s with a night of Motown music, courtesy of the Matchmaker Band, a 10-piece soul group. As you wait for the band to take the stage, grab one of The Highball’s specialty cocktails from the bar, or come an hour early for free West Coast Swing dance lessons.

Astronomy on Tap ATX #11

- Time: 7 p.m. doors, 7:30 p.m. event
On the third Tuesday of every month, astronomers Rachael Livermore and Jeffrey Silverman host Astronomy on Tap ATX, a bar event that brings speakers to discuss astronomical topics. This month, the director of the McDonald Observatory will share a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of the observatory, Adam Kraus will discuss the Kepler spacecraft and Dawn Davies will teach the audience how to be astronomers in their backyards.

Local Love feat. Resonant Frequency, Henry + The Invisibles, Kiddoo & The Dude, Jam Therapy

Solstice Live presents the free 21+ show Local Love on Wednesday. The event will feature Austin-based funk/hip-hop group Resonant Frequency, one man funk/dance band Henry + The Invisibles, and Austin-based rock groups Kiddoo & The Dude and Jam Therapy.

Austin Parks Foundation Movies in the Park: Pitch Perfect

Bring your dog, lawn chairs and picnic dinners to Wooldridge Square Park on Thursday night for a free outdoor showing of the 2012 comedy Pitch Perfect. The event, presented by Austin Park Foundation and Alamo Drafthouse, will begin at 8:15 p.m.

Chuco Soul Project

El Paso-based group Chuco Soul Project will perform for free on the Spider House patio Friday night. All ages are welcome to enjoy their show which blends jazz, funk, hip-hop, reggae and soul into one high-energy show.

The Damn, Dirty, Filthy Show

As its name suggests, The Damn, Dirty, Filthy Show brings comedians to the stage to share their dirtiest, filthiest material. The 21+ comedy show, which repeats every third Saturday of the month, starts at 10 p.m. and is followed by an open mic at 11 p.m.

KUTX Live featuring Say Girl Say

Houston-based experimental band, Say Girl Say will perform at KUTX Live on Sunday afternoon at the beer and barbeque joint, Uncle Billy’s Brew & Que. All ages are welcome to order some barbeque and enjoy the music before another week kicks off.
