Update (8:55 p.m.): The Longhorns jumped out to a quick start against the Jayhawks with an 84-yard touchdown pass from redshirt quarterback Jerrod Heard to freshman wide receiver John Burt. Texas entered the half with a 24-14 lead.
Texas added a field goal and two touchdown runs from junior quarterback Tyrone Swoopes in the ’18 wheeler’ package.
Texas defense started strong with an interception and its special teams recovered a muffed punt. But the Jayhawks offense was able to gash the Longhorn offense.
