Saturday marked mixed success for the Longhorns. Groenvynck and Wagland both defeated their South Carolina opponents in straight-sets in singles, but Crovetti and Koprcina lost their matches.
Texas closed strong Sunday. Texas won three out of four singles matches with Penn State. Koprcina, Groenvynck and Crovetti all earned victories, but Wagland fell to Penn State junior Katia Blik 6-4, 6-4.
Unlike many traditional tournaments, this competition featured 19 teams competing head-to-head. The tournament had a heavy ACC presence and was an opportunity for the Longhorns to prepare for upcoming play this week.
Two-time All-American Addison will begin play at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in New York City on Wednesday and continue through Sunday. In the meantime, the rest of the team will head to Arizona State for the Thunderbird Invitational.
