Freshman Sofia Rauzi saw a level of success at the Texas Diving Invitational this weekend that not many freshmen experience. She placed in the top 10 in every event she participated in all three days, capping off the meet with a third place finish on the platform Saturday.
She scored 270.35 and averaged 54.07 points per round. Rauzi’s third dive — a back two-and-a-half somersault tuck — earned a meet-high 64.5 points. Senior Kristina Hoffmann placed ninth in platform with 216.10 points. Arizona State sophomore Mara Aiacoboae won the platform event with a score of 349.40 and an average round score of 69.88.
Rauzi took ninth Friday in the 1-meter event with a score of 272.10. Senior Meghan Houston won with 315.65. In the 3-meter event Friday, Rauzi placed sixth with 321.55 — the highest score of the Texas team.
The Texas divers will take a break until the USA Diving Winter Nationals on Dec. 15. The Longhorn swimmers compete at home next weekend in the Texas Invitational.
