Former Longhorns Troy Dumais, Cory Bowersox and current senior Mark Anderson finished in the top six in the men’s synchronized three-meter finals on day five of the U.S. Olympic Diving Trials on Wednesday. On the women’s side, Texas junior Murphy Bromberg took second in the synchronized platform finals.
Dumais is an Olympic-alumnus in the synchronized three-meter springboard with teammate Kristian Ipsen of Stanford. The duo won bronze at the 2012 London Olympics, but took second overall at this year’s trials with 1,260.39 points.
Five-time All-American Bowersox competed alongside former University of Miami’s Zac Nees to place fourth overall with 1,100.31 points.
Taking the final spot for the Longhorns was Anderson, who competed alongside Dwight Dumais of Longhorn Aquatics to take sixth overall with 1,065.06 points. Anderson was an All-American and two-time Big 12 Diver of the Year for the Longhorns.
Only the winners of the event were guaranteed a spot on the 2016 Olympic team, but Anderson, Dumais and future Longhorn Craig Campbell will have another shot at making the team in the men’s individual three-meter finals on Saturday. Bromberg will also compete in the women’s individual platform finals on Saturday for a spot on Team USA.
