Texas athletics drops contract with ticketing group

Texas athletics has opted out of its contract with the Aspire Group, an independent ticketing service, according to the Austin-American Statesman.

The company handled ticket sales for the athletics department and offered each season ticket holder a personal representative for specific requests. It combined multiple operations to provide real-time data and more efficient ticketing services.

Former athletics director Steve Patterson signed the Aspire Group to a one-year contract in 2014 to centralize the program’s ticketing operations. The company brought several commissioned representatives to increase outbound sales. The group also earned revenue-sharing bonuses upon meeting certain sales goals.

Patterson extended the company’s contract to a five-year deal in 2015 after seeing jumps in sales for both single-game and multiple-game packages.

The report says that the athletics department is yet to offer a specific reason for its separation from the Aspire Group. Additionally, there is reportedly “no plan” to replace the group’s services.
