Texas junior golfer Beau Hossler announced via Instagram Thursday that he has elected to forgo his last season of NCAA eligibility and turn pro.
“I have been preparing to become a professional golfer, and have dreamed of this day for more than ten years,” Hossler said in a statement.
Hossler’s decision comes after an impressive junior season. He earned five medals — third most single-season wins in Texas history — and Big 12 Player of the Year for the second-straight season after leading the team in scoring. He also guided the Longhorns to a No. 1 seed and second place finish at the NCAA Championships.
“If I told you about all my experiences at Texas, it would take about a month,” Hossler said. “My teammates during these three years are some of the most special golfers I've seen, but more importantly, they are some of the highest character people I've been around.”
Hossler ranks as the nation’s No. 2 amateur golfer, according to the World Amateur Golf Ranking. He’ll attempt to earn a PGA bid.
