The East Lake Cup kicked off Monday in Atlanta, Georgia. The tournament consists of one round of stroke play followed by two rounds of match play.
Junior Scottie Scheffler won the individual title Monday with a 6-under 66 to secure the No. 2 seed for the Longhorns going into the match play format. It was Scheffler’s first sub-70 round of the season, giving the junior his first win of the year and third of his career.
Junior Doug Ghim posted a 3-under 69 for fourth place. Sophomore Steven Chervony scored his best career finish with a 75 for 12th place. Junior Taylor Funk recorded a 77 while senior Gavin Hall finished by shooting an 80.
Tee times for the Longhorns begin at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday with matches being shown on the Golf Channel beginning at 3 p.m. ET.
