The No. 15 Longhorns cruised to their seventh-straight victory Wednesday as they took down the Jayhawks 66-54 in Lawrence, Kansas.

Texas (9–4, 3–0 Big 12), which remains undefeated in conference play, earned its second-straight road victory since the head of the year and ninth consecutive against Kansas (6–8, 0–3 Big 12). The Longhorns have started Big 12 play with a 3–0 record for the second year in a row.

Texas’ leading scorer, junior guard Brooke McCarty, guided the Longhorns to success with 15 points, six rebounds while shooting 3–5 from three-point range. McCarty leads the Longhorns this season in scoring, assists and three-pointers.

Freshman forward Joyner Holmes came up one rebound shy of a double-double, but acted as a solid rim protector for the Longhorns, recording 13 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Holmes is one of four Texas players averaging double-digit points for the season.

After cutting Texas’ lead to three midway through the third quarter, the Longhorns rattled off a 15–2 run to take a commanding lead heading into the fourth. Holmes and junior guard Ariel Atkins combined for 14 points in the third quarter to help the Longhorns stave off Kansas’ third-quarter rally.

Kansas guard Jessica Washington led the Jayhawks with 23 points, 10 rebounds and three of Kansas’ five assists on the night.

After losing the rebound battle for the first time on Sunday against the Cyclones, Texas came out red hot on the boards in Lawrence. The Longhorns came close to doubling Kansas' rebounding efforts, grabbing a season-high 61 to the Jayhawks' 35.

Despite the win, the Longhorns committed 31 turnovers, an issue that has plagued them in their four losses this season, all of which came at the hands of teams currently in the top 10.

The Longhorns head home to take on TCU on Saturday at the Frank Erwin Center. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.
