APD, UTPD respond to man holding woman against her will

Update (4:31 p.m.): UTPD received additional information that the incident took place at a private residence, not in public and that no one was held against their will.

UTPD is still investigating the incident and asking for any tips regarding the report.

Original post: The Austin Police Department responded to reports of a man holding a woman against her will and then releasing her at an off-campus location. The man was described as wearing only a sheet.


The man fled on foot toward 2500 San Gabriel. Both the suspect and victim are of unknown affiliation.

The University of Texas Police Department sent a text alert at 2:04 p.m. to avoid the area.

UTPD and APD were unable to locate anyone in the area matching the man's description and the person reporting the incident could not be reached for additional details.

As of 2:32 p.m. the area was all clear. 

UTPD and APD are requesting that if anyone has further details on this incident to reach out to them.

When contacted for further comment on this report, UTPD and APD did not immediately respond.
