UT President Gregory Fenves has been named to the Board of Managers of the College Football Playoff, filling the Big 12 Conference’s seat at the table.
“I am looking forward to representing the Big 12 Conference as a member of the College Football Playoff Board of Managers,” Fenves said in a statement Tuesday. “My fellow members lead remarkable universities, and it will be an honor to join them on the governing board for the playoffs.”
The College Football Playoff features the country’s top four teams in an annual knockout tournament, eventually crowning the national champion of the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).
It is headed by an 11-member Board of Managers, with each major FBS conference being represented. The board deals with the administrative side of the playoff as well with property, budgets and policies.
“We are pleased that President Fenves will be serving with the group,” said Bill Hancock, executive director of the College Football Playoff. “He is a strong and respected leader in higher education and will be a terrific member of the CFP board.”
Fenves will assume his role on the CFP Board of Directors effective this upcoming season.
