Update (9:02 a.m.): The University sent a safety alert via email to students and staff at 8:50 a.m., 35 minutes after UTPD's original alert on Twitter.
Update (8:48 a.m.): UTPD said the area is all clear and that it is safe for students and employees to return to the area.
"The sweep of the main building is complete," UTPD said in a tweet. "Officers will remain in and around the building… Our threat mitigation unit is investigating."
Original post: University police recieved an unspecified threat to the main building via email Monday morning.
UTPD warned the public to stay clear of the area, and said multiple other government entities within the city also received similar threats.
"We have secured the first floor area that received the threat and are searching to ensure it is safe," UTPD said in a tweet.
