Water spewed more than 30 feet high outside the Student Services Building on Tuesday morning after a water main break, according to the University of Texas Police Department.
Laurie Lentz, Financial and Administrative Services communications manager, said the break was caused by work being done by Texas Gas Service. UT Utilities and Energy Management department was notified of the break at around 11:40 a.m.
UTPD spokesperson Noelle Newton said the water was shut off quickly, but some lanes on Dean Keeton were temporarily closed.
Lentz said water service to UT buildings was not affected. Lentz said repairs are expected to be completed by a Texas Gas Service contractor on Wednesday and lanes will be reopened once repairs are completed.
