Pitcher Beau Ridgeway has left the Texas baseball program after reaching a mutual agreement with head coach David Pierce last Thursday, a source told The Daily Texan. Ridgeway, a senior, pitched over 100 innings for the Longhorns in his career.

The news comes on the heels of Texas’ 3-0 series sweep against No. 1 LSU, at which Ridgeway was not in attendance.

Dustin McComas of OrangeBloods was the first to report Ridgeway’s departure.

Ridgeway, who spent three full seasons with the Longhorns, was best known for his success as a relief pitcher in 2017. He started out strong after not allowing a run in 17 of his first 18 appearances  and continued this success throughout the season, ending with a 1.89 ERA. He also appeared on the mound 37 times, which ranked first in the Big 12 and fourth in Division I during the season.

Ridgeway was named to the NCBWA preseason All-America second team to begin the 2018 campaign, but did not live up to expectations and posted a disappointing 11.32 ERA in 18 appearances.

In his final season, Ridgeway slightly improved to 10.8 ERA.

Ridgeway made his first appearance in 2019 during the Longhorns’ 11-4 win over Rice. Ridgeway picked up the win after pitching for almost two innings and successfully getting the Longhorns out of a bases-loaded situation in the third inning.

Ridgeway committed to Texas in 2014 after attending The Woodlands College Park High School in The Woodlands, Texas.
