After finishing the season at 16–16 following a loss to Kansas in the Big 12 Tournament, Texas will not be going dancing in March.
The Longhorns will miss out on the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years after a disappointing finish to the season that saw them lose their last three games.
While Texas missed out, six teams from the Big 12 made the tournament on Selection Sunday. That includes Kansas State, Texas Tech, Kansas, Baylor, Iowa State and Oklahoma. TCU, however, missed out on the tournament after many bracket projections had the Horned Frogs in.
But both TCU and the Longhorns will now participate in the National Invitational Tournament. Texas will host a regional as a No. 2 seed against No. 7 seed South Dakota State. The game will take place on Tuesday night at 9 p.m. at the Frank Erwin Center.
