Watch Live: We’re Hosting a Conversation on Campus Safety

What does an ideal system of ensuring students are safe look like? How has security on campus changed in the past three years?
The Daily Texan will host a conversation on campus safety on Tuesday, Sept. 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Burdine Hall room 224, where panelists will discuss the role of University officials and University organizations relative to safety.
The panel will feature:
Assistant Vice President for Campus Security and Chief of Police, David Carter
Assistant Vice President for Campus Safety, Jimmy Johnson
SafeHorns founder and president, Joell McNew
Austin Police Department representative, Sergeant Orlando Smart
The Texan’s editor-in-chief, Spencer Buckner will present each of the panelists and ask questions related to planning, prevention and support resources at and around UT, including safety training, transportation around campus, planning and prevention projects, lighting on campus and homelessness in the West Campus area.
