UT President Gregory Fenves tested negative for coronavirus, according to an email Dr. Amy Young, chief clinical officer of UT Health Austin, sent Sunday.
Young said in the email that Fenves has not experienced any flu-like symptoms since Thursday evening. She said he will continue to self-monitor and isolate for 14 days because of his exposure to a confirmed case, his wife Carmel Fenves.
Public health authorities recommend continued self-isolation for those who were in contact with Fenves in recent days because there remains a possibility he was infectious prior to his testing. Young said those who were in casual or distant contact with Fenves are considered low risk at this time and should self-monitor.
