UT-Austin President Gregory Fenves leaving to serve as Emory University president, reports say

UT-Austin President Gregory Fenves is expected to announce his departure from UT to become president of Emory University, according to The Texas Tribune and 247Sports

Elaine Justice, Emory University’s senior director of communications and public affairs, said she does not know anything about this information yet.

The Austin American-Statesman and Texas Tribune confirmed Fenves’ leave via an unnamed UT source. 


Statesman reporter Brian Davis said on Twitter the UT System Board of Regents will meet Wednesday to discuss establishing an interim president. 

UT spokesperson J.B. Bird said he is unable to confirm this information at this time. UT chief communications officer Gary Susswein and Karen Adler, director of media relations and communications for the UT System, could not confirm this statement. 

Fenves could not immediately be reached to confirm his leave. 

The Daily Texan has not yet independently confirmed this information.
