After four years of catching passes on the Forty Acres, Texas receiver Devin Duvernay has made the jump to the next level.

Duvernay was selected by the Baltimore Ravens with the 28th pick in the third round, becoming the second Longhorn to be selected in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Duvernay was recruited as a speedy wideout out of Sachse High School, where he racked up 45 total touchdowns in his final three seasons and won the 6A State Championship in the 100-meter dash as a senior. He arrived in Austin as a top-50 recruit and instantly made an impact.

As a freshman at Texas, Duvernay played in all 12 games, scoring his first touchdown on a 63-yard touchdown catch against Oklahoma. By the end of his senior season, Duvernay would finish with 2,468 total receiving yards after playing in all 52 games for which he was eligible.

Duvernay made the move from outside receiver into the slot in his senior year, and it paid off. There, he thrived, finishing the 2019 season with a team-high 1,386 receiving yards on 106 catches, both second all-time by a Texas player. Duvernay’s breakout game came during Sept. 7’s instant classic against LSU, when he torched the Tigers for 154 yards and two touchdowns, winning Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors.

After one of the most prolific seasons ever by a Texas receiver, Duvernay again impressed at the NFL Combine, running a 4.39 40-yard dash.

His combination of strength and speed should bode well for the Ravens as Duvernay again tries to make an instant impact.
