A UT student was robbed at gunpoint Saturday in West Campus, according to a UT Police Department incident notification sent Monday.

The robbery occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. at the 2100 block of Nueces Street, and the Austin Police Department is actively investigating the case, according to the incident notification.

The student described the suspect as a male last seen wearing a solid black sleeveless shirt and baggy blue jeans with a Louis Vuitton belt, according to the incident notification.

APD notified UTPD of this robbery Oct. 19, according to the incident notification.

This is the fifth off-campus robbery involving a UT student since the beginning of October, UTPD spokesperson Noelle Newton said.

“Our safety advice is don't walk alone, especially at night,” Newton said. “This was another scenario where someone appeared to have been just a singular victim. So please don't walk alone right now, especially at night. Always call 911 if you feel unsafe, and also, please utilize the Sure Walk program, UT Night Rides and use of virtual walk on LiveSafe.

Kevin Krzan, an APD senior police officer, said in an email that the APD robbery unit cited similarities between the Saturday robbery and the three robberies connected to the same suspect in West Campus Oct. 5 and 6. APD continues to investigate all incidents, Krzan said.

Students with information on this robbery should contact APD at 311 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-893-8477.
