After hosting the invitational rounds two weeks ago, the Longhorns welcomed the Texas A&M Aggies for their yearly showdown at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on Friday.

The Longhorns opened strong. On the women’s side, No. 8 Texas dominated the meet by winning 14 out of the 16 events with 170-125 points against the No. 17 Texas A&M Aggies.

Sophomore Kelly Pash claimed both the 100-yard and the 200-yard freestyle. She also posted the fastest time in the 200-yard individual medley in her exhibition swim. Junior Julia Cook took the gold in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke, her signature events. Distance specialist senior Evie Pfeifer claimed the top spots in the 500-yard and 1,000-yard freestyles.

The freshmen posted impressive times in their first dual meet for Texas. After claiming both events at the Dust Off Your Boots Invitational, freshman Anna Elendt took the top spot in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke once again. Freshmen swimmer Emma Sticklen and diver Bridget O’Neil also claimed victories.

On the men’s side, the team looked just as polished as they were in March.

After winning the 200-yard medley relay, Texas came out strong with a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle from senior JohnThomas Larson. Sophomore Caspar Corbeau claimed the top spot in both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke. Juniors Daniel Krueger and Drew Kibler, freshman Coby Carrozza, and seniors Alvin Jiang and Sam Pomajevich also claimed their respective events.

Freshman Carson Foster placed second in the 200-yard backstroke and the 200-yard freestyle two weeks after breaking the 400-yard individual medley national age group record. He also placed second in his exhibition swim in the 200-yard individual medley.

The Longhorn divers put on a show, taking the top four spots in the 3-meter diving competition. Senior Jordan Windle took the top spot, followed by sophomore Andrew Harness, freshman Noah Duperre and freshman Brendan McCourt. Windle followed up with a win in the 1-meter diving competition.

The Longhorns handily defeated No. 7 Aggies 178-111. The Horns went on to win 13 of the 16 events.
