TW: Discussions of death

Sophomore linebacker Jake Ehlinger was found dead near campus Thursday afternoon, according to Austin Police Department officials.

APD said they found Ehlinger in the 1200 block of West 22nd Street after receiving a call at 12:18 p.m. APD said they do not consider his death suspicious but have not yet released a cause of death. 

APD said in an email they are on the scene and did not provide any other details. 

Jake, the younger brother of former Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger, joined the football program in 2019 but did not play in his two seasons.

The sophomore business major graduated from Westlake High School, where he collected 97 tackles and earned All-Central Texas honors in his senior season.
