Who will die? – The Texan predicts Stranger Things 4 Volume 2

Major spoilers ahead!

Ahead of the release of “Stranger Things” season four volume two, The Duffer Brothers issued a bleak warning to fans: there will be a sizable death count. This hair-raising caution to fans launched a whirlwind of theories about volume two, premiering Friday. The Daily Texan compiled a list of theories and predictions for the highly anticipated season finale.

Theory #1 – The Hellfire Club’s D&D session predicted the finale.

In the first episode of season four volume one, the Hellfire Club meets up for a session helmed by their dungeon master, Eddie Munson. Suddenly, Vecna attacks the party, who decides to fight despite their low health and stamina. Dustin rolls an 11, leaving his character dead. Erica then dramatically rolls a natural 20 — a roll high enough to kill Vecna.

It takes a 20 to kill Vecna. Dustin rolls an 11, meaning a nine is still needed. El represents an 11, leaving a nine. However, there are no nines in the show. Then, viewers may recall in season two episode seven, “The Lost Sister,” where El meets the character Kali, who is also referred to as Eight. There’s an 11, there’s an eight, but now a one is needed to make the natural 20. This leaves none other than One. Eleven, plus Eight, plus One equals 20. Following this theory, episode one potentially claims that Eight will return to assist El, and the two of them will ultimately combine their powers to turn Vecna’s power on himself.

Theory #2 – Robin will save Nancy from Vecna.

Throughout season four, Nancy and Robin became an unlikely duo, sharing many tender on-screen moments together while gathering information to prove Eddie’s innocence and survive Vecna’s wrath.

The writers may be priming the two characters to share a heartfelt moment, or even sacrifice, while fighting Vecna. In season four episode seven, Nancy falls victim to Vecna’s curse, leaving the group frantic in attempting to free her. However, in episode four, Robin sorts through Nancy’s music collection. Because Robin now knows some of Nancy’s favorite songs, the theory that Robin will be the only character able to save Nancy from Vecna’s curse remains plausible.

Theory #3 – Eddie Munson is Number 10.

In flashbacks to “The Massacre at Hawkins Lab,” Dr. Brenner is shown embracing Number Ten following the attack, but the camera never reveals Ten to be dead like the rest of the children, leaving a possibility that Ten never actually died.

However, fans speculate Eddie Munson, Hawkins’ most lovable, misunderstood outcast, might be more than just a social reject who failed senior year twice. Instead, many small details point to Eddie being Number Ten. Not only does Eddie mention he buzzed his hair in middle school — a major aspect of the Hawkins Labrat uniform — but he also wears a watch on his right wrist, exactly where his “010” tattoo would sit.

Theory #4 – These characters will meet their end …

There is no doubt that characters will die in this half of the season — the question becomes who.

Murray, Erica, Argyle, Dustin and El will die. In posters released by Netflix, these characters look forward while everyone else looks at each other. Murray would die to save Hopper and Joyce, Erica would die fighting Vecna since she’s proven she’ll fight to the death in episode one, Argyle would save Jonathon tor his newfound love interest Eden, Dustin would die to impact Steve’s character arc and El would die to stop or slow down Vecna. While outlandish, it feels random to have these kinds of details on a poster without any meaning.
