ACL 2022 food vendor lineup

Avery Hough, General Life & Arts Reporter

Austin City Limits returns this October for two music-filled weekends with performances from iconic artists like P!nk, SZA, The Chicks, Lil Nas X, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more. The Daily Texan compiled a list of must-try food vendors from this year’s ACL Eats Lineup to give insight into tasty treats hungry festivalgoers can try.

De Nada Cantina

While Torchy’s Tacos and Tacodeli won’t be at ACL this year, De Nada Cantina will serve tacos with slow-braised meat, folded into handmade tortillas. ACL attendees can beat the heat with handcrafted frozen margaritas if the beverage makes the catering line-up.

GoodPop

GoodPop will provide their organic frozen fruit bars for those wanting a cold treat in the brutal Texas sun. The Austin popsicle company produces a wide variety of flavors ranging from classics like strawberry, orange and chocolate fudge to more experimental flavors such as hibiscus mint, watermelon agave, mango chile and strawberry shortcake.

Mama Fried

Mama Fried provides a simple menu on their website with only three entrees: a footlong corn dog, barbecue sandwich and chicken wings. The rest of the menu involves crinkle cut, curly or waffle fries with different toppings such as queso, barbacoa and seven sauces to choose from. For dessert, Mama Fried offers State Fair of Texas-style deep fried Oreos.

Mmmpanadas

Mmmpanadas serves a variety of dough-wrapped meals and desserts that festivalgovers can easily take on the go. They dish out the classic Argentinian beef empanada, as well as more inventive empanadas such as chicken pot pie and cheeseburger. They even offer dough-wrapped desserts like peach cobbler, smores and pineapple cinnamon.

Nervous Charlie’s

Nervous Charlie’s holds the title of best bagels in Texas this year, according to Eat This, Not That. The restaurant offers a multitude of bagel flavors from plain to pumpernickel that attendees can pair with a wide variety of cream cheese flavors, classic breakfast toppings or nearly any meat desired for a lunch bagel.

Skull & Cakebones

Austin-based Skull & Cakebones bake 100% vegan goods, providing the perfect option for those with dietary restrictions. Their online menu includes a ton of different pastries like apple fritters, macarons and cupcakes — many of which have gluten-free options. Depending on what the restaurant plans to bring to ACL, attendees can expect many savory items on the menu as well such as vegan cheeseburgers and cauliflower wings.

Voodoo Donuts

This gourmet donut business prides itself on bringing an “unconventional” element to their donuts with inventive flavors and extravagant looks. Donut flavors like hibiscus, pumpkin and bacon maple attract a large number of food-lovers to the shop. From cream-filled to topped with cereal, Voodoo Donuts offers sweet options for everyone.
