Senior Crayton Carrozza and graduate student Valery Tobias both set program-leading times this past weekend at the Boston Terrier Classic, with Carrozza taking down a one year program record by .65 seconds. This was a personal best and set a new Boston University facility record.

The meet, which was held in Boston, Massachusetts, saw many athletes break program records and even more break personal ones.

Freshman Emmanuel Sgouros led a group of six competing Longhorns with the fastest time at 4:07.17 in his first collegiate mile race. Freshman Logan Patete ran a 4:11.68, while All-American Cruz Gomez started his season with a time of 4:11.81.

Sophomore Isaac Alonzo became the No. 8 All-Time performer with the 10th-fastest time in UT history, running the 3000m in just 7:59.64.

Junior Abraham Avila-Martinez finished with a time of 8:07.23 and a seven-second PB. Freshman Nathanael Berhane crossed the finish line in 8:16.90, while Haftu Knight, senior cross country All-American, finished at 8:19.31. Junior Sam Bass closed out with a personal best time of 8:21.72.

On the second day of the tournament, Tobias of the No. 1 women’s track and field team even beat her own record.

Tobias finished the 800m with the fifth-fastest time at 2:02.25. Her time is not only the quickest in the NCAA but also faster than her previous Texas record in the 800m and set the new Mexican national record. Sophomore Amity Ebarb set her first personal best of the day in the race finishing 12th with a time of 2:09.67. Freshman Katarzyna Kwiatkowski also set a six-second personal best.

The two-time All-American was also named on the All-Time top-10 performer list in the mile with her new personal-best time of 4:43.97.

Two hours later, Ebarb set her second PB of the day during the 1000m, placing 14th with a time of 2:51.84.

Fifth-years Isabel and Monica Hebner both ran personal bests in the 3000m, shaving 25 seconds off both times. Isabel finished the 3K in 9:23.06, while Monica ran it in 9:23.88. Beth Ramos, who finished the 3K with a time of 9:36.30, added the Longhorns’ eighth personal-best time of the day.
