Texas women’s golf finishes fifth for Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

After three rounds in Hilton Head, South Carolina, the Longhorns (+19) secured another top-five finish this season, ending 295-286-290 and a team score of 871. Texas outplayed No. 3 Oregon while finishing just below No. 2 Wake Forest.

LSU (+6) won the competition finishing 283-288-287 and a total score of 858. South Carolina (+10) was the runner-up in their own backyard, going 283-284-295 totaling 862. 

Big 12 rival Baylor (+21) climbed up to seventh at the end of the tournament. The two Texas teams will join the rest of their conference in Big 12 match play starting in April. 


Texas freshmen Cindy Hsu and Angela Heo led the way for the Longhorns with both finishing in the top-20 among individual players. Hsu (E) finished highest at T-4, 74-72-67 and Heo (+4) at T-16, 70-72-75. 

Heo carded eight birdies and was tied for first among players for the best average at par-four holes at 3.91. Hsu had the most birdies for Texas at 10. Hsu capped off the third round with one of the best scores of 67. Only three other players ended the round with a similar score. Senior 

Sophie Guo (+11) finished T-53 and had a phenomenal performance during the second round with a score of 70, the best amongst Texas players and most opponents. 

Sophomore Bohyun Park (+10) finished just ahead at T-49, 74-78-71. Junior Bentley Cotton (+15) went 79-72-77 and finished T-71.

The Longhorns will head to Scottsdale, Arizona to attend the Cactus Cup from March 13-14, hosted by No. 11 Arizona State.
