Gov. Greg Abbott appoints three members to UT System Board of Regents

Gov. Greg Abbott appointed three members to the UT System Board of Regents, according to a newsletter sent out by the University of Texas System on March 16.

Robert Gauntt was newly appointed and vice chairs Janiece Longoria and James C. “Rad” Weaver were reappointed. All three of the appointees’ terms are set to run until Feb. 1, 2029.

Gauntt is a founder of Capital Creek Partners and a member of the University Chancellor’s Council and McCombs School of Business Advisory Council where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.


Longoria is a retired attorney and a founder of the Center for Women in Law at the University of Texas School of Law where she earned her Juris Doctor.

Weaver is the CEO of CW Interests and received his Bachelor of Business Administration from UT, as well.

These three appointments are subject to Senate confirmation, according to Abbott’s press release. The date has yet to be decided.
