With finals week approaching, stress runs high as students finish up the semester with final exams, projects and essays. The Daily Texan compiled a list of bright and upbeat songs sure to emanate positive vibes during this taxing time.

“Dance in the Living Room” by NVTHVN (feat. Forrest, Park Bird, Ok2222)

Combining modern pop and jazz, “Dance in the Living Room” exudes an energetic yet chill atmosphere that will have listeners dancing in their own apartments. With the theme of love that pulls on the artist’s mind, the song teaches listeners to live in the moment and enjoy the mundane elements of life.

“Follow Me Like The Moon” by Sammy Rae & The Friends

The song’s fast-paced nature, in conjunction with its classic rock, funk, jazz and soul influences, extends euphoria toward its listeners. The song expresses the inability to forget about a past love as one “(tries) to shake it off” and “ (tries) to sleep it off,” yet it still remains in their mind just as prevalent as the moon.

“Mariposa” by Peach Tree Rascals

The Spanish word for butterfly, “Mariposa” spreads the message of metamorphosis and the importance of peeling back one’s layers to convey their true feelings and flaws. The band reveals the narrator’s constant running away while simultaneously vocalizing their insecurities by saying, “How could I be strong?” and “(I am feeling) so out of control.” Nevertheless, the sentiment of hope prevails in the track as the narrator believes that one day, the person they love will come their way.

“Blueberry Eyes” by MAX (feat. SUGA of BTS)

An amalgamation of modern pop and Korean rap, “Blueberry Eyes” serves as a tribute to Max Schneider’s wife. The song speaks of his love and adoration for her, exclaiming, “I can’t wait to kiss you each morning” and “I get so lost in your blueberry eyes.” The track emanates a sense of love and comfort that hits home for many of its listeners.

“Sunshine, Nevermind” by AJ Abdullah and Me Here

Possessing a more relaxed soundscape, “Sunshine, Nevermind” radiates an aloof attitude about making the most of the present moment. Through lyrics such as “The moonlight never seems so bright / ‘Til it’s the only source of all your light,” the song preaches the sentiment that one’s mindset can significantly shape their attitude toward the world.

“Keep It Gold” by Surfaces

This indie pop song combines coastal beats with descriptive imagery of falling in love. With lyrics such as “I can see the sun / It’s shinin’ on your soul” and “Something magic in the way that you move,” the song encapsulates the beauty of love gradually growing in a relationship. The song ends with the lyrics, “Darlin’ we got stories left to be told,” leaving listeners with the hope of the future’s infinite possibilities.
