A back-to-back NCAA indoor volleyball champion, opposite hitter Molly Phillips is transferring to USC as a graduate transfer for the upcoming 2024 beach volleyball season. Phillips leaves Texas after playing for the program from 2019 to 2023.
USC beach volleyball is also coming off its own NCAA Championship repeat as head coach Dain Blanton led them to their third consecutive NCAA Championship this past spring.
“Molly is a two-time NCAA indoor volleyball champion and a proven winner,” Blanton said in a news release. “We’re extremely excited to welcome her to the Trojan Family and to assist her reaching all of her goals and potential on the sand. She was a dominant attacker and blocker for the Longhorns and our staff feels that her skills translate strongly to the beach game. It will be a whirlwind for her—coming off a long indoor volleyball season—but Molly is a savvy and resilient student athlete with lots of experience navigating academics and athletics, so we expect her to hit the sand running when she arrives in Los Angeles.”
Phillips brings her accoladed career as a five-time Big 12 champion, three-time All-Big 12 Team selection and two-time AVCA All-Southwest Region to USC beach volleyball, where she will finish off her eligibility and collegiate career with the hopes of another trophy.
