Professional volleyball is coming to Austin in 2025 as League One Volleyball sets off.
As the inaugural season approaches, the team has started to share the names of the women athletes who will make up the roster and a lot of them are more than familiar with the city.
2022 National Champion and Player of the Year outside hitter Logan Eggleston joined the project as one of its founding members, alongside California alumna Carli Lloyd.
“With her incredible record, including winning five straight Big 12 championships, being named the 2022 AVCA Player of the Year, and scoring a record setting 208 aces, Logan (Eggleston) is an elite level player and team leader,” said Tom Hogan, director of sport for LOVB. “She brings next-level play and enthusiasm to her position, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her join LOVB Austin Volleyball and help set the tone for what’s in store for Austin fans.”
Three-time First Team All-American for the Longhorns and Olympic gold medalist Chiaka Ogbogu joined the duo as the third founding member of the team.
“To be able to play professionally and at the highest levels in the U.S. is a dream come true,” Ogbogu said. “I can’t wait to play for LOVB Austin and for the fans who have supported me since my time at Texas. Growing diversity across the sport of volleyball is incredibly important to me, so I’m excited to join an organization that is committed to creating more access to the sport, and enabling young girls to see the pathways that are possible for them.”
Eggleston’s 2022 championship teammates, libero Zoe Fleck and setter Saige Ka’aha’aina-Torres, also announced that they would also be joining the team. Eggleston started her professional career at Galatasaray in Turkey, while Fleck started in Germany and Ka’aha’aina Torres in Puerto Rico. 2022 and 2023 National Champion middle blocker Asjia O’Neal was the first pick in the Pro Volleyball Federation draft but will be moving from Columbus back to Austin as the new league emerges.
Another national champion on the court is Molly McCage. The middle blocker led Texas to the 2012 National Championship and has played professionally since 2016 in Germany for Athletes Unlimited and also in the Pro Volleyball Federation. Outside hitter Khat Bell was also part of the 2012 team with McCage and has played in six countries during her nine-year professional career.
Going even earlier in Texas volleyball history, opposite hitter Juliann Faucette was a three-time All-American and led the Longhorns to three straight NCAA semifinals. As a rookie in 2007, she was named both Big 12 and AVCA Freshman of the Year.
“It’s an exciting time,” Faucette said to CBS Austin. “A sense of pride for me, and this being my home.”
