Redshirt freshman quarterback Arch Manning went into the UTSA matchup with +10000 odds to win the Heisman Trophy and left the weekend with +1600 odds.
Here are names joining Manning and junior quarterback Quinn Ewers on the road to potentially winning the prestigious award.
Cam Ward, Miami:
Ward transferred from Washington State to Miami this season and in only three games for the Hurricanes, he’s proven he is one of the best on the team. The quarterback recorded 1,035 pass yards with a 73% completion rate in Miami’s three victories. Ward’s season kicked off against state rivals Florida in “The Swamp” and took down the Gators with 385 passing yards and three touchdowns. The senior previously played for Incarnate Word in San Antonio and Washington State, winning the 2020 Jerry Rice Award after his first year with the Cardinals.
Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss:
The Mississippi offense, led by senior quarterback Jaxson Dart, has been dominating early in the season. The Rebels scored 76 points on unranked Furman in week one and will face one more non-conference team, Georgia Southern, before playing Kentucky. Over the course of two games, Dart added his name to the SEC record books by achieving 30 consecutive completions. After another dominating win over Wake Forest, Dart was Co-Offensive Player of the Week in the SEC. Dart contributed to the 40-6 win with 26 completions on 34 attempts for 377 yards and two passing touchdowns.
Jalen Milroe, Alabama:
The Alabama quarterback is tied in the nation for fourth most rushing touchdowns, six, going into week four. Milroe earned multiple honors for his performance in the 42-10 win over Wisconsin, including the Manning Award Stars of the Week, Maxwell Award Player of the Week and the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week. Milroe has scored two or more rushing touchdowns in all three games played so far for the undefeated Crimson Tide. The first big challenge of the season, and also a place to prove his dominance, will be on Saturday as No. 4 Alabama faces No. 2 Georgia.
Dillon Gabriel, Oregon:
Former Oklahoma and Central Florida quarterback, Dillon Gabriel is playing his sixth year of college football for Oregon. In three games, he has proved the Ducks made a good decision signing him. Also playing for an undefeated team, Gabriel has completed 914 pass yards with an 84% completion rate. In his first rivalry game against Oregon State, Gabriel completed 83% of his passes for the third consecutive time and recorded his second consecutive game with three total touchdowns. Gabriel and the No. 9 Ducks will have a chance to keep proving themselves on Saturday against UCLA.
