Bryant Vincent became ULM’s newest head coach in December 2023, bringing over 20 years of collegiate coaching experience with him to the Sun Belt.
Before he was hired at ULM, Vincent served as offensive coordinator for the University of New Mexico for a brief stint in 2023. With Vincent directing the plays, the Lobos were ranked 14th nationally for red-zone offense and 19th for rushing.
He was also heavily involved in the coaching of New Mexico running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt during his program-record-breaking season. Croskey-Merritt was the first Lobo running back to have back-to-back games with over 200 rushing yards, finishing the two-step with 17 touchdowns and ending up third in the University of New Mexico’s history for rushing touchdowns.
Prior to his year at New Mexico, Vincent spent several years at the University of Alabama at Birmingham after the football program was reinstated in 2017. He worked four years alternately as an offensive coordinator and quarterback coach and was interim head coach this last year. Under Vincent’s direction, UAB became the team with the most wins in Conference USA, collecting 42 total. Vincent also led UAB to two back-to-back conference championships.
Vincent’s collegiate coaching career started in the Sun Belt Conference at South Alabama. From 2011 to 2013, Vincent was the assistant coach for the Jaguars. After a short break, he returned to the scene to become an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2015 to 2017.
As ULM’s newest head coach, Vincent looks to repeat the success that he found at New Mexico and UAB. His experience coaching in the Sun Belt for two separate periods, and his excellence regarding conference play at UAB, have prepared him to lead the ULM Warhawks to a bowl game. After finding success during his first and only year at New Mexico, Vincent is perfectly able to repeat his success in developing an effective rushing offense.
As the third game in the season, facing the Longhorns at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium will likely be one of the biggest opponents that Vincent and his team will face this season. His two decades as an offensive coordinator and head coach will be put to the test against the Longhorns’ crushing defensive line.
