The Longhorns head into week four undefeated for the second year in a row. This time, Texas sits atop the AP poll. Defending its ranking for the first time since 2008, the Longhorns are set to host the 2–0 Warhawks of ULM at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The last time the two programs met was in 2022 when Texas won 52-10. But with a new quarterback under center, and new key players throughout the Warhawk roster, it’s time to meet a couple of the opponents.
General Booty: Quarterback
If the name rings a bell, it’s because General used to play up north in Norman, Oklahoma. The transfer played just two games for the Sooners, one in each respective year, but now has logged two starts and led the Warhawks to a 2–0 record. ULM also started 2–0 last year before losing its next 10 games, but Booty will look to change last year’s trend on Saturday. So far this year, the redshirt junior is 19-30 in the air, throwing for 191 yards and a touchdown. Booty also has 24 rushing yards on nine attempts in two games. Touted as a three-star transfer by 247sports, Booty will have the first major test of his career on Saturday.
Ahmad Hardy: Running Back
Boasting three stars as a high school recruit by 247sports, Hardy is in his freshman year as a Warhawk, but it may not seem that way. Hardy leads the backfield in both carries and rushing yards with 33 touches for 161 yards. The 5-foot-10-inch running back also has two touchdowns this year, which also leads the backfield.
Javon Campbell: Wide Receiver
In his first year both as a Warhawk and in FBS, the junior transfer from Dodge City Community College has already made his mark on college football, leading the team in receiving yards with 89. On just five catches, Booty has found his first-year receiver for almost half of his passing yards this season. Campbell also has one touchdown this season, with the only other receiving touchdown going to Davon Wells, a senior route runner for the Warhawks.
Carl Glass Jr.: Linebacker
Senior linebacker Carl Glass Jr. is off to a hot start on the defensive side of the ball, leading ULM with 21 tackles in two games. Forcing a fumble this season, Glass has three total now in his career. He can’t claim any sacks yet this season, but the senior leader was able to grab one and a half sacks last year. Glass is one of few on the Warhawk roster who came to DKR in 2022 in the 52-10 blowout game, and one can wait and see how that might inspire Glass this upcoming Saturday.
