Texas football currently has 31 former athletes in the NFL and with the third week of gameplay coming to a close, here are some former Longhorns that were able to find their way onto the stats sheets.
Xavier Worthy, Kansas City Chiefs
First-round draft pick wide receiver Xavier Worthy and the Kansas City Chiefs went up against the Atlanta Falcons. He had two catches for 17 yards and accumulated 13 rushing yards off of three carries. Worthy has helped the Chiefs offense to their current 3–0 record.
Bijan Robinson, Atlanta Falcons
The 2023 draftee faced off against his former teammate when his Atlanta Falcons played the Chiefs on Sunday. In the Primetime spot, Robinson and Worthy, who played together on the Texas offense for two years, swapped NFL jerseys after the game. Despite the 22-17 loss by Atlanta, the running back held 31 rushing yards, 21 receiving yards and one touchdown in the matchup.
Roschon Johnson, Chicago Bears
Despite the loss against the Indianapolis Colts 21-16, Johnson had eight carries for 30 yards, the highest rushing yards on the team.
Jordan Whittington, Los Angeles Rams
The wide receiver showed out Sunday helping the Rams win over San Francisco 27-24. Whittington accumulated 28 yards on three receptions and played the best game of his young career. With both star wide receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp out for a few weeks with knee and ankle injuries, respectively, Whittington received more playing time than his first two games and likely will in the coming weeks.
Cameron Dicker, Los Angeles Chargers
Dicker was able to secure a 28-yard field goal, but his Chargers ultimately lost to Pittsburgh 20-10. Dicker has kicked 100% on the season so far, accumulating 22 points for the Chargers and making one kick for over 50 yards.
DeMarvion Overshown, Dallas Cowboys
Overshown ended the matchup against the Baltimore Ravens with six tackles. The Cowboys ultimately fell short to the Ravens, bumping them to 1–2 on the season. Overshown missed last season with a torn ACL but has returned to his top form this season.
T’Vondre Sweat, Tennessee Titans
The second round draft pick made his way onto the stat sheet for the first time this season with four tackles, but the Titans still fell as a team to the Packers 30-14 on Sunday.
Other Longhorn alumni
Steelers’ safety and Texas alumnus DeShon Elliott held five tackles to assist in the win against the Chargers. Safety Quandre Diggs of the Titans, alongside Sweat, held eight tackles. Jordan Hicks, a linebacker for the Browns, held eight total tackles and one tackle for loss and defensive end Joseph Ossai of the Cincinnati Bengals had two tackles on Monday night. Safety for the Denver Broncos, Brandon Jones had an impactful play when he intercepted a ball from the former Texas rival Baker Mayfield, a former Oklahoma quarterback. Wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey, also helped the Broncos with six receptions for 37 receiving yards.
