No. 2 Georgia vs. No. 4 Alabama at 6:30 p.m. on ABC
What’s at stake: A whole lotta pride
The highest-ranked game of the regular season thus far, No. 2 Georgia travels to newly named Saban Field seeking revenge. Last year in the SEC championship, the Bulldogs had a perfect season before falling to the Crimson Tide 27-24 and ultimately being knocked out of the College Football Playoff. Both teams coming off a bye week, it is No. 4 Alabama’s first test of the year, as the Tide have beaten all three of their opponents by an average of over 40 points. Georgia, which is coming off a narrow one-point win at unranked Kentucky in week three, is still favored to win.
No. 20 Oklahoma State vs. No. 23 Kansas State at 11:00 a.m. on ESPN
What’s at stake: Big 12 Championship hopes
With both schools coming off conference losses in week four, No. 20 Oklahoma State and No. 23 Kansas State have fallen to the bottom end of the AP Poll and are at risk of falling to the bottom in the Big 12 conference standings. With 16 total teams now in the conference, starting the year 0–2 virtually eliminates a program from playing in the last Big 12 game of the year.
No. 15 Louisville vs. No. 16 Notre Dame at 2:30 p.m. on Peacock
What’s at stake: A fighting chance for the Fighting Irish
With the new college football format, Notre Dame gets the short end of the stick. As an independent school, the Fighting Irish cannot receive an automatic bid and can only make the playoffs through an at-large bid. With only seven of those spots available, one loss already on the record and a weak schedule for the rest of the year, if Notre Dame wants to have a shot at the postseason, the Fighting Irish must win this game at home.
No. 19 Illinois vs. No. 9 Penn State at 6:30 p.m. on NBC
What’s at stake: Drew Allar stans’ pride
In a poll conducted by The Athletic, 54% of Penn State pollsters said junior Drew Allar would be a top-15 quarterback. This is the game for Allar to show it. Last year, Allar was shut down in top-10 matchups against Michigan and Ohio State, throwing 28-64, or just 43.75%. Allar has yet to prove himself in the big games, and an undefeated No.19 Illinois, which is coming off an impressive 31-24 overtime win at No. 22 Nebraska, comes into University Park looking to continue Allar’s trend.
Arkansas vs. Texas A&M at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN
What’s at stake: Jerry Jones
The 80th matchup between the two historic programs also marks the 12th year in a row where the game will be played at the Dallas Cowboys’ stadium, AT&T Stadium, in Arlington, also known as Jerryworld. Arkansas, who is unranked, picked up a good win at Auburn last week and Texas A&M had a solid win against Florida the week prior. The 1964 Razorback football team co-captain, Jerry Jones, has a big Saturday ahead of him in the last year of AT&T’s contract with the Southwest Classic.
