With No. 5 Texas recovering from last week’s Georgia loss and heading into a game against No. 25 Vanderbilt, here are three more games to watch in the exciting world of college football.
Missouri vs. Alabama at 2:30 p.m. on ABC
No. 21 Missouri will take a trip to Bryant-Denny Stadium this Saturday to battle No. 15 Alabama. Despite Missouri having a season record of 6–1 compared to the Tide’s 5–2, almost all bets are on Alabama to take down the Tigers.
Graduate student quarterback Brady Cooks is widely outmatched by junior quarterback Jalen Milroe, with Milroe holding 1,722 season yards and 13 touchdowns compared to Cooks’ 1,545 yards for seven. Despite these stats, Milroe’s inconsistency could prove to be a thorn in Alabama’s side, with his six interceptions making it a risky pass game for Missouri’s strong secondary. However, the Tigers’ defense as a whole should prove easy for the Tide to take down.
Oregon vs. Illinois at 2:30 p.m. on CBS
Newly crowned No. 1 Oregon will play this Saturday at home against No. 20 Illinois. After Texas’ fall last week, Oregon has been named the top team in the nation, giving Illinois only an 8.6% fighting chance according to ESPN Analytics.
Sitting at 7–0 compared to Illinois’ 6–1, Oregon has all the advantage in conference play. Senior quarterback Dillon Gabriel has played every game this season and accounted for 2,080 yards, 15 touchdowns and four interceptions, while top wide receiver senior Tez Johnson has proven to be an offensive master with 57 receptions for 536 yards and seven touchdowns.
LSU vs. Texas A&M at 6:30 p.m. on ABC
No. 8 LSU will visit No. 14 A&M for another all-in SEC battle. LSU has been slowly but steadily creeping its way up the AP Poll, while the Aggies have put up a fight to hold on to a top-20 ranking. Both teams sit at 6–1.
With the Tigers traveling to Kyle Field, one of the most intimidating venues in college football, the odds are on A&M and sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman to pull through for the win. Either way, it will be a fierce matchup between the two.
