In the two and a half years that I’ve spent at UT so far, I’ve switched my major four times. In high school, I tried to play nearly every sport and instrument available and never perfected one.
Now, for truly the first time in my life, I have found a passion that I’ve stuck to for over a year: photojournalism through The Daily Texan.
I am incredibly grateful to all who have helped set me on the journey that began last year: my UT family that resides in the Texan’s basement office.
To Leila, my first photo editor, for taking a chance on me when I hadn’t a clue about journalism.
To Professor Donna DeCesare, who showed me the importance of empathy and care for our subjects that we must all use in the pursuit of journalism.
To Daniel, who taught me about the beauty of film and the power of photography.
To Carla, who inspires me and my work daily with ardor for art and constantly expands the bounds of creativity.
To Amelia, Trinity and Chloe whose dedication, leadership and guidance inspire my own.
To Lorianne, who showed me the way of the newsroom and helped set my own standards for visuals.
To Young for illuminating (get it) my pictures and passion with technology.
And to Naina, Charlotte, Coco and everyone else that I’ve had the opportunity to work, learn, live and grow with during my time here — I thank you all.
